[For the Date between 5th Jan'05 - 16th' Jan'05]

Top Five Albums
1) Thiruppachi
A mix of musicians (liberally borrowed from Telugu tunes) seems to have done the trick. Though on expected lines, Vijay's fans will love this album. Just tailor-made for his dances.
2) Ayyah
Bharadwaj is in fine fettle here. His songs have a strong a Carnatic base. In Ayyah, he has come up with a nice package.
3) 7 G Rainbow Colony
Do we have to say anything a new about Yuvan Shankar Raja's music in this film?
4) Manmathan
Ditto - as in the above.
5) Kadhal
Joshua Sridhar is a talent to watch. Listen to his Southern tunes, you will understand

Kamal - Rajini films heading for a clash
The good old days of Kamal - Rajini rivalry seems to be back in the Tamil film industry with the release of their new films coinciding on the same day. Though Kamal is the senior when it comes to acting, it is Rajini who has a greater fan following & clout as an actor. Though both had competed with each other, they had never released their films on the same day. But things are going to be different this time. Kamalhasan's new film 'Mumbai Express' & Rajinikanth's new film 'Chandramukhi' are both scheduled to be released on the 14th of April, 2005. Many believe that it isn't a coincidence that both superstars are releasing their films on the same day. Some say that it is their way of identifying with the younger crowds.

Kamal comes to receive Doctorate
The uniqueness of 'Ulaganayagan' lies in his way of doing things in a clear, precise and with fineness. Kamal had gone to Mumbai to shoot his film 'Mumbai Express'. He had announced the news of his coming back to Chennai in his typical style. He had written letters to all the journalists individually to inform about his Chennai visit. In this letter, he said that, he is going to come to Chennai after Pongal & on Jan17th to receive the Doctorate which is going to be conferred on him at Sathyabamma University.

Wait Till later
On the New year day, we got a call from Prashanth. We went to meet him expecting some special announcement. We met him at Kothandapani Studio in Saligram. Where he is busily acting in the film 'London'. "Nothing special brother, On the first day of the year, I want to meet your people. That is why I called you all. Come let us eat". "Ok, now that the New year day's feast is over, tell us when are you going to give us marriage feast? Is the date finalized? "You are all part of my family, If any good thing happens, I will definitely inform you and also to everybody, please wait till then. The list of films, which you are acting, is too long. Will the year 2005 be a Prashanth's year? No, No, you are using big words to describe small thing. In this year, my films are also getting released that's all. But, each and every film will be different from one other in all aspects. Now 'Ayudham' is going to be released first. I am going to act in another movie for the same CTV company which produced the film 'Ayudam' After this comes 'Adaikalam' this film had come more beautifully than expected. The director BhuvanRaja had registered the different experience of Human beings nicely. Now at present I am acting in the film 'London' directed by Sundar.C. Apart from this, I am acting in the film 'Sakkare' directed by Susi. Ganesan and another film 'Police' directed by my father Thiyarajan. After exchanging these informations, he took leave from us by saying, "brother I have to go to Jeya T.V. to participate in a 'live' Program. So, see you all".

'Glamour' should be used as Salad - Aparna
Aparna, a 50kg young beautiful thing was introduced in Tamil film first. This stream which started flowing from Tamilnadu now stationed at Kerala. "The story of the film 'December' had impressed me very much. In this film I had acted as a go-easy and jolly good Medical College student. At the same time, a matured girl. "I had acted as a girl who is an equal mixture of playfulness, practical and sensible". She is an student of Visual communication. There is no break in her studies because of her acting career. She is still and student. She is doing a course "Digital film-making course". Though Aparna had acted glamorously in the film 'Pullalakotailirunthu Saravanan', her favorite artists are Ravethy and Suhasini, whose plus points are not glamour. "If so, is it good bye for glamour? As far as I am concerned, glamour should be used as salad only. That should not be the whole meal." Her Dream Hero is the England's crown prince Williams. Her love? After yet to see the 'Manmadhan' of her heart! Ok, So you will not be coming back to Tamil at least for sometime is it not? She stops us with a gesture of silence. "The films are going to come one by one, I am not going to make the announcement. You will be seeing advertisement in the journals yourself very soon".

Too afraid to take 'Bath'
Even since the Video of Trisha's look alike's bath scene, other actresses are too afraid to take bath, especially those who happen to stay in hotels. They turn to mini detectives and explore each and every inch of the bath room before they get into showers. To escape from this ordel an young actress got an house for herself and had moved in.
The six foot tall 'Arabian Horse' Namitha, who got introduced in 'Engal Anna' and then became famous by acting in the film 'Aei' is very much afraid of the possibility of her being videoed while taking bath. After much deliberations. She had found an house near Valluvar kottam and had moved in. If it is her own place. She can atleast take bath without fear. That is the reason for this sudden change of place.
Following the example of Namitha, many other young heroines are vacating their places in 3 or 5 star hotels & are looking for an house for themselves. After coming under the glare of media, the only place where actresses can feel free is their bathroom. It that also should become a place of trespassing, one can only pity them.

'Glamour' Radhika!
Kadal Devan Nee Vanda Podhu
Unnil naan Irunden
Vadaik katril un moochu katru
Vinnil Naan parandhen
Nee veru Nadhiya
Naan Veru nadhiya
Kanneril Kalappathuthan
Nadhiyin Vidhiya?
This longing love song, sung by Radhika in the film 'Ullak Kadathal' when she is parted from her lover. The director of the film, 'Kaatrukkenna Veli', which was about the sufferings of Eelam Tamilans. Since this film had sunk without trace, he switched over to glamour. Kutti Radhika who was searching for an chance after the film 'Meesai Madhavan', This may be the final chance for her. Kutti Radhika had changed to glamour Radhika in this film. The song, which you have read above, was filmed at 'Chinnakkanal' near Moonaru. They had filmed a scene, where the drawings of the artiste 'Aras' change into Kutti Radhika. These are all not important information. The important thing to look at is the dress of Kutti Radhika. In a drenched white dress, which leaves nothing to imagination... We should not be explaining anything further. Just have a look at these photos.. and drool over!

It's Gazini now
The hero is changed and so the title too. Director Murugadoss has changed the title of his forthcoming movie Mirattal to Gazini. Starring Surya and Asin the lead roles, Gazini was initially penned for actor Ajith. However, the actor backed out at the last moment and Surya replaced him. An action paked entertainer, Gazini is produced by Sullan fame Salem A Chandrashekaran. Prakash Raj plays the villain. R T Rajashekar cranks the camera and Harris Jeyaraj scores the music.

Khushboo quitting acting forever?
Talks have begun circulating again that Khushboo has decided to quit acting forever. Khushboo had recently produced a film named 'Giri'. Her husband Sundar C had directed it. The film turned out to be a commercial hit and Khushboo is jubilant that it has given him a big break. Khushboo has decided to concentrate only on producing films and TV serials. She has promised that she is going to produce two films a year & many serials. Her decision to quit acting comes after recent rumors linking her to her co-star in one of the megaserials in which she was acting. Though many believe that the rumors were meant to increase the serial's TRP, it did have an impact on Khushboo's desire to continue acting.

Srikanth Switching over to Comedy!
This year is an year of love. This is the phrase Srikanth keeps on reporting to everybody he happened to see. We met the hero of 'RojaKoottam' with the question, "Are you going to say good bye to action films from now on?". He welcomed as in his trimmed beard and lively laugh and exchanged New year greetings with us. He also shared his sadness about the Tsunami Tragedy. "Is it true that you have been telling everybody that the year 2005 is an year of love? "I didn't say that to emphasize the fact that there won't be action oriented movies at all.., Just for a change, I have decided to switched over to sweet Romantic Hero Srikanth mold. That is why I have started giving attention to love oriented subjects, that's all". I switched over to action oriented films because I was afraid that people would stamp me as just a romantic hero, singing songs going around trees. I had taken many risks, had acted in action-oriented movies without going for 'dupes', & had proved myself. Though there may be very many different opinions about the success of the films like Joot, Varnajalam, and Bose. The true thing is that, it earned lot of money in 'shifting' & an villages. This cannot be refuted by anybody. Now this is a period of getting into another dimension. In future, I may get into action-oriented movies, if the time is right. The film 'Pambara Kannale', which I am going to act is an whole time comedy movie. I will prove that I can also do comedy convincingly. People should say that Srikanth's films will not be single mold but of different kind. I will continue to make efforts in that direction. I have bought an house for myself at Vadapalani. So far I was staying in an rented house. We have started the movie 'Kanakanden' in a fast paced manner. On the other side I have signed a movie with 'Lakshmi movie makers'. This film will be directed by, Fazil sir. I also signed in another film 'Pambara Kannale'. This film is produced by, Amudha Durairaj, Ilayaraja's elder brother's son Parthi Baskar is the director of this film. Another important secret is that a director whom I like most had told me an interesting story. Very soon, announcement will be made in this regard. The is another important matter is that my next film 'Sadurangam' is going to be released in this month. This film will be a beautiful mixture of love, practical and thrilling. Then we asked him an important question. Ok, You brought an house, But have you found the suitable 'Mahalakshmi' to light the house? Sir, I am still very young. There is no hurry for me get marry now!

Parthiban's Autograph
If the dialogue writer of the old Tamil film 'Thiruvilaiyadal' should write that famous question - answer script now, it would be something like this. What is inseparable? Parthiban and his 'Sharp' response to any question. He has his own style of doing things in everything he does, and he has unique capability of responding to any question in an witty and sharp way. At the shooting spot of his film 'Rowdy' Parthiban started recalling his 'Honeymoon' experience (a mini Autograph) during the interval time between shots (Fond remembrance of Seetha, all of a sudden) Since the matter is about Honeymoon the co-actors and other technicians are naturally interested and had gathered around him. During the narration, his daughter Keethana was also there, asked him a question feigning innocence "Pa, Where I had been at that time? Parthiban's answer created hilarious laughter all around. He didn't hesitate to answer immediately "When we were on our way to Honeymoon, You were with me, when we came back, you were with your mother!"

Kamal Haasan all the way in 2004
Who was the Tamil actor of 2004? No, it was not somebody from the young brigade but a 50-year-old veteran called Kamal Haasan. And the man who has acted in the maximum number of films as hero is the other 50-something actor, Sathyaraj! It was a spectacular year for Kamal after a long drought. His earlier productions like "Aalavandan" and "Anbe Sivam" had failed miserably. His dream project "Marudanayakkam" was stalled after a few months of shooting. But Kamal is a fighter. And in 2004, the passionate filmmaker made "Virumaandi". He produced the film with his brother Charu Haasan. He directed, scripted and also acted in the lead role. "Virumaandi", a violent film spreading the message of non-violence, won critical and commercial appreciation. He also had another hit in 2004, "Vasool Raja M.B.B.S.", a remake of the Hindi blockbuster "Munnabhai M.B.B.S." Those who had seen the original were disappointed, but it was made for the Tamil public and they loved the comedy. Once again, it was Kamal's show all the way. Vijay, with the biggest hit of 2004, "Gilli", takes the next spot. "Gilli", a fast-paced entertainer, had Vijay dancing, romancing, fighting and what not and the audience just lapped it up. 'Jeyam' Ravi had only one release, his second film "M. Kumaran s/o Mahalakshmy". Though not as big a hit as "Jeyam", "M. Kumaraan" also had the cash registers ringing. Needless to say 'Jeyam' Ravi will soon be a big force in Tamil cinema because, unlike Dhanush, he signs only safe projects. A film like "Manmadan" is enough to catapult Silambarasan to the top mainly because the film has done well at the box office. The young actor has written the script, which is fast-paced and taut. As for his acting capabilities, he has shed a lot of his mannerisms. With the success of "Kathal" released at the fag end of 2004, Bharath shed the "Boys" image. People will no longer describe him as Bharath of "Boys" fame. He had a huge hit in Malayalam called "4 the People". The Tamil version also did reasonably well followed by "Chellamey" that completed 100 days. Bharath was excellent as a possessive teenage lover in "Chellamay". He was equally good as a simple motor mechanic in "Kathal". Great days are ahead for Bharath.

Vikram Commitment to the Core
Vikram is proving the proverb "If you want to gain something, you should be prepared to lose something" once too often. Before his film 'Sethu' he has been sparkling in 'Serial' bulbs. After that movie(Sethu), he has been emitting bright light of thousands volts focus light. The reason for this is his unflinching commitment towards his profession. He continue to prove himself film after film by Sheer hardwork. The way is ready to endure hardships to fit into the character is known to all. In this, he is next only to Kamal. Now he has again proved his commitment to his profession doing the shooting of his latest film 'Anniyan'. While the shooting was on, Vikram was affected by heavy fever, he could not even stand up. On seeing this, the director and the rest of the unit advised him go back to his house and take rest. But Vikram was very particular that shooting should not be disturbed because of him. So, he went & stood in front of the powerful focus light for 15minutes. Because of this, all the sweat in his body had come out. The wondrous thing was that, his fever vanished. Immediately he participated in the shooting. He is an rare artiste in the field where, there are many actors who simply refuse to turn up at the shooting sport after having given the call sheets. Just for this alone Vikram should be appreciated and praised.

Sneha's solace to tidal waves victims
The list of people affected in the recent tsunami waves tragedy is never ending. The Tamil cine industry has risen to the occasion to offer their help to the needy. Sneha who was away in Hyderabad busy shooting for a Telugu film, took time off to come to Chennai to offer her condolence to the bereaved families. She personally visited the village Nebilikuppam off Chennai which was one of the worst affected villages. Sneha along with her parents distributed rice and other household essentials to the affected people there. Meanwhile, donations are pouring in from the Tamil film industry. AVM productions and Bharathiraja donated Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 1 lakh respectively. Vikram is donating Rs.15 lakh to the CM Relief fund today. Prabhu and Sathyaraj have offered to donate Rs. 2 lakh and Rs. 1 lakh respectively. Vijayakant as president of the Actors Association offered to conduct a cultural programme to generate funds.
