Peralagan Launched
AVM launched their 166th film recently. Titled Peralagan, the film has Surya and Jothika acting in double roles. The mahurut took place at the AVM Studios 3rd floor which was attended by a host of film personalities. A remake of the Malayalam film Kunjikoonan, the film is directed by Sasi Shankar who made the original version. Manorama and Vivek play important roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music. Rathnavelu is the cameraman. Thotta Tharani is the art director.

H.C. rejects stay order on Dhanush
Further to the complaint from P.G.Srikanth to issue stay order on Dhanush to act in other films till he completes his project Dreams, Justice R.Balasubramaniam of the High Court rejected the plea and has adjourned the case to 31st of January.

Once again Dhanush is in problem. He is acting in a film called Dreams in which Dhiya (Kurumbu) is the heroine and Kasthuri Raja is the director. P.G. Srikanth, who earlier made Seevalapaeri Paandi, produces this film. About eighty percent of the film is over and seven songs have been recorded. It is believed that all of a sudden Dhanush wanted to change the storyline , following which Kasthuri Raja walked out of the project. Shakthi Balaji is brought in to direct the film which has disappointed Srikanth. In view of this, Srikanth made a plea at the Chennai High Court that Dhanush be restrained from acting in any other films before the completion of his film.

Kamaraj The King Maker ready for release
Kamaraj The King Maker was censored in December and is ready for release on February 20th. Produced by Ramana Communications has music by Illayaraja. Initially the film had only background score but the maestro after seeing the film composed three songs. One is a song that comes at the funeral of Kamaraj. Lyrics are by Valee. Director- producer is Balakrishnan. Richard acts as Kamaraj and Sampath is young version of Kamaraj. Vijayan, Mahendran (director), V S Raghavan, Anandhi, Sumanth are the supporting casts. M M Rengaswami is cameraman. Editor V T Vijayan culled out several important scenes from films division documentary for the funeral song. The audio cassette was released by Kamalhaasan.

Sullan launched
With Puthukottayilirundhu Saravanan doing well, Dhanush is all set with his next film Sullan directed by Thirumalai fame Ramana. Sindhu Tolani, one film old in Telugu (Aithe) is paired with Dhanush. Sullan in local Tamil means a street smart person who is talkative and gets provoked even for a small issue. Here Dhanush plays Sullan a slum dweller and son of a lorry driver (Manivannan). The whole film is happening in and around Chennai. Though I live in a slum my language will be normal Tamil only said Dhanush. Chandrasekhar, a distributor from Salem who has earlier distributed films like Saamy, Thulluvadho Ilamai, Kadhal Kondain, Dhool, Thirumalai has turned a producer through Sullan. A huge slum set has been erected at Prasads and shooting going on in full swing. Saravana Creations produces Sullan.

Rahman and Amitabh to deliver Kalam’s Vision
On Republic Day, A.R. Rahman and Amitabh Bachchan will conduct an entertainment programme titled I believe A Better World is Possible. The concert which will use President A.P.J. Kalam’s ‘Visionary Mantra’ will be held at the Cricket Club of India. The proceeds will go to help Save the Children India. This Mumbai-based NGO working with underprivileged children is presenting the concert along with the Tata Group. The event will start off with Amitabh reciting a phrase penned by Kalam. There will be joint performances by other artistes and children.

Rahman has composed a song from the text of Kalam’s Ignited Minds. Children will sing for the song, titled One Mission, approved by Kalam. The 90-minute evening will have other songs like I Believe, Bharat Hum Ko and Ma Tujhe Salam.

Rahman said that he was already supporting this NGO through donations but thought that he could support them better with a big concert.

Sneha teams up with Srikanth once again
.H.Murali who made Avvai Shanmughi with Kamal in Sri Mahlakshmi combines launched his second film Bose with Srikanth doing the title role. Sneha who had a lull period after Parthiban Kanavu is teaming up once again with Srikanth in the lead. Srikanth plays a commando for the first time. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music. Peter Haynes does action choreography. Vijay Milton cranks the camera. Senthil Kumar who gave Prakash Raj starrer Daya directs this film. It’s a love cum action film says the director who also pens the story, screenplay and dialogues.

Kaakkha Kaakkha goes to Hollywood
Kaakkha Kaakkha, the blockbuster of 2003 is going to Hollywood. Tentatively titled Guarding On, the Hollywood version will be based on a Russian cop who specializes in encounters. And it’s taking director Gautham Menon and producer S. Thanu with it. They have started the company Malibu Tigers, which would produce the movie. When the duo approached the Hollywood producers for its remake in English, four of them one of them being Ryan Johnson (executive producer of The Score starring Edward Norton and Robert de Nero) liked the movie and asked them to get the script ready. Thanu and the American producers will be jointly producing this.

Radhika Sarath Kumar’s Jayram
Radhika Sarathkumar who gave famous serials like Chitthi, Annamalai etc., for the first time producing a film Jayram in Tamil. Teja, the popular director of Telugu films is being imported to Tamil. Teja writes the story and screenplay too. The lead pair is Navneet and Santhoshi. Other cast includes Pandiyarajan, Livingston, Nagesh, Manobala, Chittibabu, Madanbob, Abhinayasri etc. Radhika introduces 33 other new comers. The boxing scenes are said to be the highlight of the movie. For the first time there is going to be a 15 day shooting schedule in Pakistan with special permission from the Govt. of India. Anoop is introduced as a music director. Ravi Varman is the cinematographer. M.R.Mohan Radha produces on behalf of Raadan Media Works India Ltd. Their second project will be Jitthan.

M.Kumaran, Son of Bhagyalakshmi Ravi’s next
Though Jeyam was a super hit and actor Ravi was flooded with offers he did not sign any film. He was waiting for a good script. Now after a long hunt finally he has signed for a film under their home banner ‘Jeyam Company’, titled differently as M.Kumaran, Son of Bhagyalakshmi. His brother Jeyam M.Raja directs this film too. Nadhiya, the heart throb of 80’s is making a come back and plays the role of Bhagyalakshmi, mother of Ravi in the film. Prakashraj plays a boxer in the film. Music is not scored by R.P.Patnayak who gave hits songs in their earlier venture since Patnayak has become an actor himself.

Vijay’s highest call sheet
Vijay, after the success of Thirumalai is now onto his next project Gilli. Trisha is the heroine, which is directed by Dharani. The film is remake of the Telugu hit Okkadu starring Mahesh Babu and Bhoomika. Vijay has given 110 days call sheet for Gilli, which is the highest for any of his earlier films. Also it is said that the producer A.M. Rathnam has pumped in huge money for grandeur, which is double that of his earlier productions. Vijay plays the role of a Kabbady palyer.

Bala launches new film in May
Director Bala who had taken a break after the incredible film Pithamagan is back in action. He has finalized the story for his next film. He has already started the screenplay work. Three big producers have approached him. He is yet to decide on which one to select. This will also have an offbeat theme, claims Bala. Bala will announce the hero of his film next week, which is to commence shooting in May

Hari to direct Telugu film
Hari whose first film Thamizh was a bomb hit big time with Vikram starrer Saami in Tamil. His next film Kovil is released for Pongal in Tamilnadu. It has Silambarasan and Sonia in the lead. Currently he is directing Arul in Tamil, which has Vikram and Jothika in the lead. Bellamkonda Suresh who is currently producing the remake of Saami as Lakshmi Narasimha has signed Hari for his next film. It will be produced under the banner of Sai Ganesh.

Sherin hurt in an accident
Actress Sherin was injured in an accident after the car in which she traveled was hit by a Town Bus. The accident occurred when Sherin was on her way to Kanyakumari from Bangalore. Also with her were boyfriend Rohan and her aunt. She received minor injuries on her face and hand. All three of them were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment. While talking about the unpleasant incident Sherin said, It is God’s grace that we have survived the accident with minor injuries.

Goutham-Surya film commences
KK’s success has teamed up Surya - Goutham Menon and Harris Jayaraj once again. Their next venture titled Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikalam commenced the shooting yesterday. R.D.Rajshekar who cranked the camera for KK handles the camera here too. The film produced by Sri Sri Chithra will be shot completely in Chennai since it has a city based subject.
