Kaadhal Natchathiram launched
One more film with a love subject Kaadhal Natchathiram was launched yesterday at AVM studios. The film has Sushma and Guru Parvath debuting in the lead roles. K.S.Venkatapathy is yet another new face. AV.R.Rangesh of Jaibhavanu Cine Creations produces this film. Director Rajapathy has plans to complete the film in four months in one schedule.
Vikram Meganite in Singapore
Ace producer PL.Thenappan and Indian Movie News, Singapore jointly conducts Vikram Mega Starnite show on January 22nd, 2004 which is being held at Singapore Expo Stadium. Vikram, who is currently enjoying the superstardom status, will be sizzling with his reel life co-stars like Trisha, Meera Jasmine and a host of other stars live on the stage. Incidentally the Chinese New Year also falls on the same day. Get yourselves geared up for the mega event!
Kaadhal FM launched
FM radio channels play an integrated part of everyone’s life. To go with this current trend director Jayaprakash has titled his latest film Kaadhal FM, which is a romantic film revolving around a youth who works in a FM radio station. Manikanda who played one of the boys in Boys is doing the lead role. Anisha, a Mumbai model is debuting as the heroine. Although Jayaprakash’s (an associate of director Bharathiraja) debut venture Saadhi Sanam fetched him a good name as a director, it was a commercial failure. While talking about the current film he says, 'the movie is about the romance between a youth working as a Radio Jockey and a college girl. It is a youthful and a romantic comedy film, which will certainly attract the youth'. V.Mageswaran of SVM Films produces the film. Balu Mahendra’s son Shanki Mahendra cranks the camera.
Shakeela denies police claims
Sex queen Shakeela denied the reports that she had acted in X-rated films. Two days back Chennai police tipped the media that they were on the look out for Shakeela on the charges of acting in porn films. The police claimed that she's absconding and reportedly in Hyderabad. However when contacted she said that she was very much in Chennai and was shooting for a Tamil film. She denied the reports about acting in porn films. She also revealed that she gets anonymous threatening calls very often, which say that she would be arrested soon for brothel charges. She has plans of taking up the issue with Tamilnadu CM, Ms.Jayalaitha.
Audio of Autograph released
The audio of director Cheran's latest venture Autograph, was released recently at Sathyam theatres among a well attended film crowd. While director Ravikumar released the audio, ace producer Panchu Arunachalam received the same. Bharadwaj has scored the music and two of the songs were aired. Sneha, Thankar Pacchan, Gopika, Vijayakumar, Ibrahim Rowtthar and Kaja Mohideen spoke on the occasion. A duet with a mix of Malayalam and Tamil lyrics with Cheran and Gopika dancing on the lush locales of Kulu Manali and a touching song where Sneha sings along with the blind music troupe were screened. The film depicts four stages in the life of a man. Snehan and Pa. Vijay have penned the lyrics. The film has four actresses - Gopika, Sneha, Kanika and Mallika playing the female leads and four cinematographers. The first part, picturised in Kerala and Kulu Manali has cinematographer Vijay Milton taking charge. The second part, shot in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu, near Palani and Dindigul, has Ravi Varman cranking the camera. The scenes, which were shot in Chennai, has Dwaraknath behind the camera. Shanky Mahendra, son of Balu Mahendra who is making his debut will crank the fourth stage of the character, to be shot again in Kerala.
Mani Rathnam denied permission
Mani Rathnam is currently making a Hindi film Yuva with Ajay Devgan, Abhishek Bacchan and Vivek Oberoi, which is already complete with only a few scenes of Vivek Oberoi to be shot. Now that the actor is back in action after the freak accident that happened in Kolkatta, Mani had planned to shoot certain scenes in Alipur Central Jail for which he had applied for formal permission. But after giving a careful consideration the jail authorities refused permission and the reason given was due to security problems. It can be recalled that recently two of the dreaded inmates escaped from this prison despite tight security. Alternatively Mani was given a choice to shoot in front of another prison in Kolkatta, which he did not show much interest
Jayasudha denies becoming a preacher
Actress Jayasudha has denied the earlier reports which appeared in one of the dailies that she got herself converted to Christianity and has decided to be a preacher of the religion. Jayasudha, who has acted in more than 200 films in all South Indian languages when contacted said, I do agree that I got converted to Christianity but that doesn’t mean I have become a preacher. I have a lovable family, a television serial production company, and working in Telugu films. So where comes the question of becoming a preacher?
Dhanush in Dreams
Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Sarvanan is almost complete and Dhanush has started his next project Dreams with his father Kashtoori Raja. Director Kasthoori Raja who churns out films with a rural backdrop this time changes tracks and directs a city based romantic film. Dreams is all about the dreams of today’s younger generation. My son has by now become a hit with the teens and with each film he is creating a new trend. After the Manmatha Rasa song in Thiruda Thirudi became a hit, his fans want him to do a fast number. In the same style I have given a song in this film where Dhanush dances with 40 dancers, which was shot at the Chennai Port. He himself has choreographed and its come out beautifully says Raja. Dhanush has Diya for company.
Siddharth ties knot
Siddharth the lead hero of the Shankar directed Boys has tied the knot with his long time lover Meghna at Delhi yesterday. Siddharth who is a MBA graduate had aspirations in becoming a director and joined under Manirathnam as an assistant director and worked for the film Kannathil Mutthamittal. Unlike in the film Boys, the marriage was done with the consent of both the parents. The couple has gone honey mooning to Srilanka. Siddharth, who is currently acting in Mani’s Ayudha Ezhutthu as one of the three heroes will return on 17th to join the shooting.
Ashish Vidyarthi replaces Thyagarajan
Dharani who is directing Gilli with Vijay in the role of a Kabbadi player wanted Thyagarajan (real life father of Prasanth) to play father to the hero on screen. Thyagarajan who is playing father to his son on screen in his own production Jai turned down the offer. Now Ashish Vidyarthi plays the role.
Dhanush in AVM’s next?
AVM productions wanted Dhanush to act in the remake of Koonjokoonan the Dilip starrer. After seeing the original the actor is reported to have said that it was difficult to do the dual role and hence opted out but all the same AVM has decided to go ahead with a Dhanush film. The search is on for a good story and director. Any takers?
Meera Jasmine denies marriage
Recently a leading Malayalam film magazine Vellinakshatram, has reported about Meera Jasmine’s alleged marriage to a producer. Almost three months back, Crime magazine had published a story on Meera's closeness to Aryadan Shoukath, producer of her film Padom Onnu Oru Vilapam. The film directed by T V Chandran was an offbeat art film in which Meera acted to perfection.Aryadan Shoukath, a businessman is the son of former minister Aryadan Mohammed the Congress (I) strongman close to Chief Minister A K Antony. Shaukath had denied his closeness to Meera. Meera was busy shooting for Lohithadas' Chakram in Pollachi and later flew to Mumbai to join the Telugu unit. Meera is reported to have said "My detractors are trying to spread all sorts of rumours right from the time I entered the industry. I have not even slept for the past one month, busy shooting. Then where do I have the time to get married?"Many gossips were heard about this upcoming actress. But later, it was found out that a guy, who was after this actress in college, is behind all the news. He used to send mails to newspaper offices about her so-called illegal
Sada in Thiruda Thirudi Telugu remake
Subramania Siva, the director of Thiruda Thirudi is doing the film remake in Telugu with Nitin in the lead. After seeing Jeyam he wanted to cast Sada. Sada on hearing this request immediately gave her call sheet saying that she had heard about his talent and the film and was very honoured to be considered for the role. Good news travels faster than light!
Arun Kumar to learn acting!
Arun Kumar son of actor Vijayakumar has decided to take up a three-month course in acting at the New York Academy of acting. Though he has been in the filmdom for more than ten years he has not been able to hit big time. He had recently appeared in a guest role in Iyarkai. He had banked heavily on Jananam, which seems to be stuck half way through. Mithun's son Maxs a friend of Arun is currently undergoing a training course in NY and had suggested taking up this course. Maybe this course will do him wonders.
