Jai Surya in full swing
Arjun starrer Vaanavil in which Abhirami debuted as the heroine did good business for producer Manojkumar. Once again he is teaming up with Arjun in the film Jai Surya. "Arjun is acting in a role completely different from his earlier films. He has donned a different get up also, " claims the director. A new face from Mumbai is launched as the heroine of this film. Prakashraj, Srividhya, Vadivel,Vinodh and Uday Prakash are the supporting cast. Karthik Raja does camera work. Manojkumar apart from wielding the mega phone pens the story, screenplay and dialogues. The shooting, which commenced recently, will take place in Hyderabad, Vizag, Rajamundhri, Araku Valley, Delhi and Agra later.
Simran confirms wedding engagement
Simran for the first time opens up for MohanKumars.com and clears the air surrounding her. Talking to MohanKumars.com’s editor, she confirmed her engagement with Deepak Bhaga who works for Virgin Atlantic Airways at Delhi. "It is true that I got engaged to Deepak couple of months back. I had just completed Mani sir’s film in Hindi and the Tamil version of it is yet to start. Currently I am working in Otran with Arjun. I am here in the industry for the last 8 years continuously working. I have undergone tremendous pressure in the recent times because of false news in the media. I want to take a break for 4-5 months. Why should I get married in a secretive manner? I will definitely inform every one including my fans [Specially MohanKumars.com fans] about my wedding at an appropriate time," said Simran.
International Tamil Film Awards in Malaysia
Seventh Channel, the television production house from Chennai, in association with Astro Vaanavil, one of the largest satellite channels in Asia, have constituted the First International Tamil Film Awards (ITFA).
"The most common passion of almost every Tamilian around the world was Tamil films. As Malaysia has about two million Tamilians, it became first choice of location for the ITFA," says Narayanan who heads the Seventh Channel. Next year, Sun City in Africa will host the event. A panel, which consisted the veterans of the film industry has been setup to review the films released in 2002 and choose the best. "The panel has nominated four films in each category. List of nominations are available online www.astro.com.my/itfa. People can access the website and cast their votes,"says Narayanan. Incidentally, the voting process is being audited by Price Waterhouse Cooper, who also audit Oscars and ITFA awards. The awards evening will be held on October 12 in The Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. While actress Khushboo showcased the Award, director Vikraman inaugurated the website on September 14 at The Palace of the Golden Horses in Malaysia.
Simran in Mani's Tamil film
Simran denied the report that appeared in a portal (not MohanKumars.com) that she has been dropped from the Tamil film directed by Manirathnam. She told MohanKumars.com that it was nothing but a figment of imagination. The reason for her being dropped was attributed to her poor Tamil vocalbury and the director who is going to use live sound recording felt Simran's Tamil was not good enough. She laughed at this report and commented, "First of all the Tamil version does not have a live sound recording. Apart from this I think my Tamil is much better than the other heroines in the film" said Simran.
Vikram’s Dream Role
Kamal's travails in shooting his yet to be titled film has not ended. For the second time KamalAfter super duper success of Saamy, there is lot of expectations on Vikram in the forthcoming magnum opus of Bala’s Pitamagan. Unlike for his other movies, Vikram has given bulk dates, almost about eight months for this film. It is a role of my lifetime, says Vikram.
Vikram’s upcoming movies include, Lakshimi Productions’ Arul, directed by Saamy fame Hari and A.M.Ratnam’s untitled film by Dharani, Apart from this, Vikram has signed a movie each with Oscar films, Lakshmi Movie Makers and Super Good Films. The titles and directors are yet to be finalized. However Vikram says I have decided to do one film at a time with an objective to do each role at his best.
Parthiban in Kannaadi Pookkal
Team Work Productions have recently launched their first project Kannaadi Pookkal with Parthiban and Kaveri doing the lead. The story is the remake of a Malayalam film Ente Veedu Apponteyum in which Jayaram played the main role. The story is about a nine-year-old boy and his insecurity due to the birth of a sibling and his killing of his younger brother accidentally. S.A.Rajkumar scores the music. K.Shajahan directs the film. The film is expected to get complete in one schedule and released in January.
Soori in big league
The audio of Vignesh Parthiban starrer Soori was launched yesterday at AVM studios. Speaker Kalimuthu released the first cassette. Trailer and two of the songs were aired. Deva has shunned his normal style and given some fresh tunes. Vignesh who was once a first choice for small budget producers went in to oblivion has now surfaced again in this film with a different kind of a role. He has shorn off his flocks for this film. Director Selvan who was an associate of Shankar till Boys said There were lot of opposition when we started the project with Vignesh. But the producer was adamant and wanted only Vignesh. Now he has proved right. Vignesh has given a wonderful performance. He refused to let open the character of Parthiban who is making a special appearance in the film. Dr.Vijayakumar of Sri Kamatchi studios produce this film. Two of the songs have been shot at Srilanka in locales which have not been so far used by out door units. Other artistes include Uma, Parthiban, Vijayalakshmi, Chinny Jayanth, Vasu Vikram etc. Vijay Milton cranks the camera.
M.S Viswanathan meets with an accident
M.S.Viswanathan, one of the greatest music directors ever, met with an accident in one of the busy roads of Chennai yesterday night. He was hurt and has been admitted to a local hospital. He scored his first music in 1952 and went on for more than thirty years with more than a thousand songs.
Kamal’s shooting shifted to Chennai
A press release by Kamal Hasan has said that shooting will take place hereafter in Chennai. He stated that almost seventy percent of the movie has been shot and a few songs, a ‘jallikattu’ and a canal scene were slated to be shot in the vicinity of Dindugul. But unlike in the past, the canals have dried up and certain delays in sourcing technical equipment for the jallikattu prompted the return to Chennai. He also appealed to everyone not give any political color or the terrorist threat theories to what was a simple production decision. The name of the movie will also be announced at the audio release function, Kamal stated. The movie has all ingredients like love, bravery, sorrow and joy interlaced and will be appreciated by all was his parting statement.
Producer Manoj Kumar earns Sneha’s ire
After Parthiban Kanavu, Sneha’s pairing with Arjun in Jai Surya was supposed to be another feather in her cap. It did not work out as Sneha backed out of the project due to personal reasons. However at the muharat of the film, banners and posters were splashed all over with Arjun and Sneha as the lead duo. When contacted by MohanKumars.com, Sneha vehemently said that she was not associated with the movie in any way. Producer Manoj Kumar for his part has said that the banners carried the pictures of a Mumbai actress and not Sneha. An irked Sneha has filed a complaint with the Producer’s Council.
