Raid in Rajini's house, Properties Sealed
Though he has not been acting in many films of late, Rajini remain as the highest paid actor in the film field.
The number of crores of Rupees he will be receiving for acting in 'Chandramukhi' cannot be counted using the fingers alone. This one line information is enough for the Income Tax department to get into action. Yesterday, they came to the Rajini's house & conducted the raid. They have sealed certain properties in way that it can't be transferred to anybody in the future.
The dubbing work of 'Chandramukhi' is being done now with full speed. Rajini will start from his house in the early morning itself daily. When he started for dubbing theatre as usual Feb10, there were some uninvited 'guests' knocked the doors.
They showed their identity cards to Rajini & had started their work immediately. Their lunch break was 1P.M to 3 P.M. After that the search continued till evening 5 'o'clock.
The information about the amount of unaccounted money, or any other documents of properties are being kept as secret. But people around Rajini claims that, Rajini didn't loose his usual cool self.
Whatever happened, this incident can be taken as the elimination of the 'evil eye' that might have cast its spell on the film 'Chandramukhi'. Now the only thing that remains is 'its' release!
Rajni to attend 'Chandramukhi' show
Super Star Rajnikant will be seen in action in Chennai soon. He will participate in the audio cassette release function of the film 'Chandramukhi' on March 5, G Ramkumar, Managing Partner of Sivaji Productions, said in Chennai today.
Leading singer of the country, Asha Bhonsle, will attend the function as the chief guest, Ramkumar, son of late actor Sivaji Ganesan, said to MohanKumars.Com™. Asha has rendered one of the six songs in the film, he said, adding Asha and her sister Lata Mangeshkar had a long association with his father & the company, Sivaji Productions.
Asha, in fact, had rendered a song in the film 'Amar Deep' over five decades ago, he pointed out.
Fans of Rajnikant, who are waiting for a glimpse of the actor for several months, will have an opportunity to see him live at the audio release function.
Along with Rajnikant, Prabhu & other artistes of the film will attend the function.
Director P Vasu said shooting of the film had been completed barring three songs. Two songs would be picturised at sets in Hyderabad while the location for the last song had not yet been decided, he added.
The entire film had been completed in a schedule of just 60-70 days, Vasu said. Ramkumar chipped in to say that it was a tremendous achievement by Vasu to have completed the film in such a short time, though it was a big film. Rajni and he (Ramkumar) had expected that it would take four months to complete the film, he pointed out.
Ramkumar declined to comment about the production cost, saying it would be huge. "We've still more expenditure to incur", he said.
"It'll be a family story and an entertainer", was all Ramkumar would say about the film.
The film will be released on Tamil New Year's Day in April.
Ilayaraja's Thiruvasakam is ready
The much-awaited musical work of 'Thiruvasakam by Ilayaraja', a symphony based on Manickavasagar's Tamil verses, is now complete, the renowned music director disclosed in Chennai today.
It will be released in Chennai on April 14 -- Tamil New Year's Day -- followed by a series of launch events in Chidambaram, Tiruchirapalli, Thanjavur, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tirunelveli and Nagercoil in India, and some cities in the US, Canada, Germany, France, Switzerland, Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore, Ilayaraja said to MohanKumars.Com™.
The music director said his aim was not to provide a new dimension to the Tamil epic or to try and display his talents as a musician. He wanted to take such treasures like Thiruvasagam to the younger generation, and make them aware of the rich traditions and culture in Tamil Nadu. "We have a responsibility to tell the youth in a way they can understand about the greatness of literary and religious masterpieces like Thiruvasagam. I have merely attempted to take this to the youth," said an emotional Isagnani.
"There will always be people who will question why these verses have been rendered in the album this way. However, I am not trying to say that this is the only way to sing them or that this is the way to sing them. I have done something to make the youth aware of the treasures that we have, that are lying unused and unsung right in front of us," he added.
Ilayaraja has sung six songs in this album. "You've to listen to my voice; that is your fate", he said amidst laughter.
The album has witnessed excellent performances by the Budapest Symphony Orchestra in Hungary (140 players), by Stephen Schwatz, the celebrated American playwright; by Richard King, the five-time Grammy award-winning sound engineer of Sony Music in New York, and more than 200 vocalists and instrumentalists from Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Budapest and New York, said Rev Jegath Gaspar Raj, speaking on behalf of the Tamil Maiyam, a non-profit organisation based in Chennai, which is the producer of this album.
The objectives behind the album were three-fold -- to take Indian music to a larger, global audience; take Thiruvasakam, one of the revered, spiritual pieces of Tamil literature to the younger generation, and raise the quality level of contemporary music, said Fr Vincent Chelladurai of the Tamil Maiyam.
Director Bharatiraaja said Ilayaraja's work and rise in the musical career astonished him, considering that he was a simple villager of Tamil Nadu, for whom even coming to Chennai was itself like a dream. Today, Ilayaraja had reached global stature in terms of music and he was poised to reach even greater heights, the director said adding that Ilayaraja was himself a treasure of whom every Tamilian should feel proud.
Among others present on the occasion to greet Ilayaraja at the Prasad Studio were directors Balu Mahendra and Thangarbachan, director-actors Parthiban and Nasser.

The Love Story of Kavery
Kaveri, who had acted as the younger sister of Sarathkumar in the film 'Samuthiram' & was expected to create huge waves as that of Tsunami in film field. But she could not rise even as a small soundless wave in Kollywood.
Though she had acted as the heroine in the film 'Punnagai Poove', there was no other chances came in her way. But Telugu film field had thrown red carpet welcome for her. So she continued to act in Telugu films. While she was acting in the film 'Pedha Babu', directed by Suryakiran, both started loving each other. The remind in love for some time & enjoyed the love life.
Now they are going to get married with the permission & acceptance from both the families. Their marriage is going to be held on 1st May this year. The director Suryakiran is the elder brother of actress Sujitha. Both belong to the same Nair community. This also worked in their favour.
Any love, which ends in marriage, deserves to be appreciated. We also wish the couple for happy married life.
Nobody would do wrong thing
Fiery eyes with arresting hair do, Madhavan gives entirely a different picture in the film 'Thambi'. Nobody would commit wrong thing when they see the eyes of 'Thambi'. Those who do commit wrong things cannot escape from the eyes of 'Thambi'- This is the personification of the character of 'Thambi' in that film. There are dialogues, which lash out at the injustice of the society like,
'Naththaikku Kuda Mudhugula Veedu
Nadai Padhaidhane Ezhikku Kuudu.
(Even Snile has roof over its top. But for the poor in society platform is the house)
"All the films in which I had acted in so far, are almost similar, except for the film 'Aayudha Ezhuthu'. The film 'Thambi' will be very different from all these films. The character is such that it would make a definite impact on viewers", says Madhavan.
"If everyone wanted to have revenge with the motive of 'eye for an eye', the whole world will become blind very soon". The theme of the film is, these words of Mahatma.
"We are going to live in this earth only for a short period, within this short time, nobody has the right to take anybody's life" explains Madhavan in one line about the film.
Seeman directs this film after a very long gap. He has been raising his voice in high pitch in favour of the cause of 'Tamil only' agitations. Is it possible this didn't get reflected in the film?
"Samikku padaikkira Kaikalai Kumbittaom'
Sakkadai allura Kaigalai Vittitutome
Pasumadu Aathavai Ammannu Solludu
Pachai Thamailan 'Mummy' innu solran"
(We paid obscene to the hand that serves the God. But left out those hands which cleared the sewerage. Even cow calls 'its' mother as amma. But as Tamilian, we call our mother as 'Mummy'. This song is as hot as that of a bite of chilli.
Thambi, 'Tamizh Kambi'
You need not be an expert to have guessed this news
It is always part of the age-old script that Kollywood has been following.
The moment a film is declared in the neighboring States, immediately its remake rights fly off the racks here. And Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, the hit of the season in Andhra is coming to Tamil Nadu's shores in a new package.
Directed by choreographer turned actor turned director Prabhudeva starring Trisha and Sidharth will now be remade in Tamil. Noted producer R B Choudhary has expressed his desire to produce the Tamil version of NN. Convinced with the movie's screnplay, the producer is all set to begin the shooting in a couple of months.
His son Jeeva is tipped to play the lead role in the movie.
The other cast and crew is being worked out.
But suffice to say, it will be a big team.
Shrikanth in Fazil's Tamil film
After getting himself almost thrown out of the Malayalam film industry, Fazil is getting ready to establish himself in Tamil.
There are unconfirmed rumors that Nadia might star in the new film that Fazil is going to direct in Tamil. This is her way to returning the favor to the director who had launched her career in Malayalam and Tamil.
As of now, the director has only confirmed the film's hero- Shrikanth. A few months ago, Shrikanth had got tired of his Romantic-Hero image and decided to go for a transformation. But, the film didn't quiet make an impact.
So, Shrikanth returns to familiar territories- romantic films. Announcements about the heroine are expected soon.
Senthil's Son as Hero
This is a time in which all and sundry are turning out to be heroes overnight. In this situation, the comedian Senthil had launched the career of his own son in the film field as hero. His name is Naveen.
"He is being introduced in the film 'Unnai Ennkku Pudichiruku' as one of the two heroes in the film. Can you guess who is the heroine of Naveen in this film? She is the heroine of the 'Mannin Maindan' 'Suga'. The other hero is Aswin. He is the son of the actress Jayabharathi's younger sister.
These three young things are going have a go at it in the film 'Unnai Ennakku Pudichirukku'. The pooja for this film was conducted at AVM studio today. Senthil was all smiles when he came to the pooja with his eldest son and the hero of the film Naveen, and his younger brother along with the mother. The entire family had participates in Pooja with obvious elation.
The artistes who had acted with Senthil in the past, had shook hands with Naveen and wished him all success. After the pooja, Senthil had taken a family photo. If the father had many people to laugh by his performance in films, the son laughs with ease before answering any question.
We asked him whether he would save the name of his father. "Definitely sir, this is my first film. I will be very careful not to make any kind of mistakes. My father had given me lot of advices. I will behave accordingly, even if I am to act in a comedy subject film, I wish to beat my father in comedy.
I am developing all the skills that are needed for the film, like Fights, Dance, etc. I am learning fight from 'Action Prakash' and Dance from D.K.S.Babu. Apart from my skills, I need everybody's blessings, says Naveen with all humbleness of a new comer!
We had a talk with the heroine Suga about the film.
'Mannin Maindhan' is my first film. That film is directed by, Rama Narayanan Sir. This film is directed by, his assistant. I have agreed immediately to act in this film when I heard the story'. She said this in broken Tamil.
When we asked the other hero of this film Aswin, whether this is his first film, he said, "No, I have already acted in a Malayalam film with Kavya Madhavan. I am also acting in another Malayalam film now.
I am the son of the younger sister of the actress Jayabharathi. I have studied Physiotherapy at present I am living with my 'Periyamma' now. I do believe and hope that I will, come a round in Tamil film field. We wished him all success and came out of that place.
I'm not for awards: Vijay
Vijay has always been a different kind of individual.
When actors aspire to make it big winning awards one after another, Vijay’s mind has been on winning the minds of the public.
And that’s what sets him apart.
The actor says, I'm not for any awards or recognition. People appreciated my movies and good box office collection alone is my national award.
It may be noted the Vikram has returned triumphant from New Delhi receiving the national award for best actor last week.
Vijay busy with his Sachin being directed by John and produced by Kalaipuli Thanu says, I'm not in the rat race for accolades & awards.
.
Asked about Thirupacchi's grand opening, Vijay says, it was a action packed emotional film, which I knew would make it big. All credit should go to director Perarasu & producer R B Choudhary for it. My forthcoming movie Sachin produced by Thanu in a grand manner, quite typical to his style, too has so far come good'.
Asked about Chennai being pictured as city of goons in Tirupachi, Vijay says, films are a medium of exaggeration and no doubt the scenes are bit exaggerated. I have no grouse against this city, where I grew up.
Vijay, as we said, is different.
Now together for fun
Following the success of Khakka Khaaka, producer Kalaipuli Thanu is joining hands with Surya once again for a new and totally different kind of a movie.
Interestingly, debutant Krishna is directing the movie.
A R Rehman is scoring music for the movie which would go to floors once Surya's Gajini being directed by Murugadoss is completed.
Meanwhile Surya 's Mayavi is nearing completion.
After a crime thriller, Surya and Thanu are coming out with a hilarious romantic entertainer. "It will be totally different from Khakka, Khakka" is what they say.
A grand home coming

Meanwhile, there's a mega felicitation for Vikram being organized at Kuwait this week in which directors Bala and S P Muthuraman would participate.
Sequel time in Kollywood
Sequels to successful Tamil movies have become a common thing in Kollywood.
S J Suryah's under production Best Friend (BF) is said to be a sequel to his Kushi.
Director Ramesh Krishnan is busy with a sequel to his Adhu, a horror movie which starred Sneha in the lead role.
Joining the list is actor-director Parthiban.
The actor who is busy acting in a couple of movies Ade and Rowdy is all set to come out with a sequel to his blockbuster movie Ulle Velliyae.
The movie titled Pachai Kudhirae would go to floors by the year-end.
The original Ulle Velliyae was very controversial for its ribald dialogues and double entendre scenes.
It starred Ishwarya who was an up and coming actress then.
Just on Ishwarya, the long-legged actress, who has had a controversial past, is said to have parted company with her second husband too.
Ishwarya had divorced her first husband after alleging that he was a drug addict.
Vikram, others receive national film awards
Tamil star Vikram won Best Actor of the year 2003 for his powerhouse performance in "Pithamagan".
With a hug from President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and a standing ovation, celebrated filmmaker Mrinal Sen Wednesday received the Dadasaheb Phalke award, the most prestigious honour in Indian cinema.
Not new to awards, Sen, 81, received a shawl and the recognition from Kalam at a glittering function to present the 51st national film awards at the Vigyan Bhawan here.
Sen, a critically acclaimed filmmaker, has bagged several awards at the film festivals in Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Karlovy Vary.
Besides Kalam and Sen's warm embrace, it was the long-haired president's smiling acknowledgement of singer Sonu Nigam's similar hairstyle that evoked a strong reaction from the audience.
"What an evening it was," said Kalam later. "This is the team that made us happy throughout the year, so rightfully they have been honoured."
Nigam, the winner of the national award for playback singing, motioned to his hair and Kalam's for the benefit of an amused audience.
Later he grasped fellow award winner and close friend Farah Khan - who won the award for best choreography - in a bear hug.
Among others who received awards were the makers of the rib-tickling satire "Munnabhai MBBS" and the brooding 1947 partition saga "Pinjar".
It may have lost out on an Oscar nomination despite a grand promotion campaign, but Marathi film "Shwas" by Sandeep Sawant won a befitting consolation prize in the form of the national award for the Best Film of 2003 for its moving portrayal of the relationship between a man and his grandson who is about to lose his vision.
The film's young star Ashwin Chitale shared the Best Child Artiste award with Kalidasan, who portrayed a complex role in the Malayalam film "Ente Veedu Appoontem".
Chitale, who was in Class 4 when he acted in "Shwas", won the hearts of the gathering with his traditional Marathi costume complete with headgear.
After receiving the award from the president, he was seen prancing towards his father, happily holding the certificate.
Fellow award winner Kalidasan was not far behind in attracting special attention, as he smartly extended a page to the president for his autograph after receiving the medal and certificate.
"Munnabhai MBBS", a satire on the medical profession centred on a lovable vagabond and his quirky sidekick, won the award for best popular film providing wholesome entertainment.
Rakesh Roshan's alien fantasy extravaganza "Koi Mil Gaya" bagged the award for Best Film on Other Social Issues such as prohibition, women and child welfare, anti-dowry, drug abuse and welfare of handicapped.
Malayalam film "Maargam" won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film.
Manoj Bajpai won the special jury award for Best Actor for his turn in "Pinjar".
Critically acclaimed actor Gautam Ghose took home his 13th award as he received a Swarna Kamal and Rs.50,000 as Best Director for his Bengali film "Aabar Aranye", which explores human relationships.
He also won the award for best screenplay.
The top acting awards in the popular category eluded the Hindi film industry this time and regional stars walked away with more honours. Hindi actors, however, won in supporting categories.
Kerala actress Meera Jasmin received the Best Actress award for her role in "Padam Onnu Oru Vilapam", where she plays a young woman trapped in a polyandrous marriage.
Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, in a regal yellow sari, attracted admiring glances and resounding applause as she walked up to the stage to receive the award for Best Supporting Actress for her graceful portrayal in Ghose's film "Aabar Aranye".
Tagore, whose husband and former cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi had accompanied her, greeted Kalam with a demure "adaab".
Another actor who evoked a thunderous applause was Pankaj Kapoor, who won the award for Best Supporting Actor for his riveting yet understated performance as a mafia don in "Maqbool", loosely based on Shakespeare's Macbeth.
The national awards acknowledged some 50 films in various languages.
The Best Music Direction award went to the popular trio Shankar Mahadevan, Aloysis Mendonsa and Ehsaan Noorani.
Tarali Sarma was named the best female singer for a song in "Akashitorar Kothale" that she rendered sans any instrumental accompaniment.
Rituparno Ghosh's "Chokher Baali" starring Aishwarya Rai missed out on the main categories but won awards for Best Feature Film in Bengali, Best Art Direction and Costume.
President Kalam later advised the film fraternity to contribute in building the society by making meaningful cinema that depicted the fight against corruption.
Simbu 'Takes on' Rajini!
Simbu seemed to have decided, even if his head breaks, he is going to dash against a mountain, not an ordinary mountain at that, Real big Anna'malai'.
T.R.had asked the call sheets of Rajini in the past. Rajini had refused to entertain him at that time. Then he had taken a vow to make his son Silambarasan into a super star. So, he did not brought him up as an ordinary child, but as a little star. That small boy had now grown up into a young man, who had jumped over his father's achievements in no time and had made his presence felt up to Bollywood.
As far as Simbu is concerned, he is trying to topple a mountain by tying it with his hair. If he is successful he will feel too happy about it, if, the hair goes, no great loss. As a first step toward this, he is trying to rope in Rajini's heroine Nayanthara, in his film. In the film 'Vallavan', Simbu already has two heroines, Sandhya , Remma sen. The third one is going to be Nayanthara.
If the plan of 'Vallavan' clicks, his next target will be Aishwarya rai. He wanted to get the wicket of Aishwarya rai who didn't budge to the bowling of Rajini. If Simbu can get her to act in his film, it would be a 'super check' to the 'Super star'.
This flamboyance is born out of the fact that, he was able to get Manthra to act in his film. The son of T.R. is even ready to give half of his own salary to Aishwarya rai to make her act in his film.
But the fact remains that, however powerful the Torch may be, if it is directed against the Sun, the heat will only affect the person holding the torch.
